Effective 12.15.23 - A story regarding human behavior:

Makeup classes have been graciously offered since day 1. Sometimes we get sick, sometimes our dogs get sick, sometimes we have prior commitments - like vacations or weddings and can’t make it to a scheduled class. And that’s ok. It’s life. Prior to COVID and contact tracing, we would always offer a makeup class on an alternative date that the same material was being taught. I.e. missing a Week 2 class and making it up the next time it’s held. And that worked well. However, with the COVID surge and classes filled to capacity, this model became unfeasible. So, we implemented monthly makeup classes, held on Friday nights. Why Friday nights? Because we’re in class every other night of the week. And our makeup classes have filled up. We max them out, scheduling is done via email (which is time consuming) and have reiterated to us EVERY. SINGLE. MONTH. that human behavior is unreliable and more often than not people NO CALL/NO SHOW to these classes. It’s simply disrespectful, not only to the trainer who has taken time away from their family to be there, but to every person who didn’t make it into that night’s class and must wait another month to take part in a makeup class. We are in the business of communication - interspecies communication of all things - and are exhausted from 3 years of this. (December’s example, 16 humans signed up for 2 classes, 4 showed up, 2 emailed with legitimate reasons, TEN were responsible for NO CALL/NO SHOWing and our January makeup sessions are already FULL). WE ARE WHOLLY DEDICATED TO TRAINING YOUR DOGS. WE JUST WANT YOU TO BE AS COMMITTED.

And so, we’re going to be holding people accountable for their behavior going forward. Here’s how it works: Sign up for a makeup class, dates/times on the drop-down menu, show up to the class and receive an invitation to an upcoming Out & About Class on us. It’s that simple. You will know how APPRECIATIVE WE ARE FOR YOUR DEDICATION TO YOUR CANINE COMPANION. No call/no show and it’s no longer our problem.
